As students return to the classroom this week, The Plasman Group has once again stepped up to support the Homework Program of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation with a $20,000 contribution. The company established the Homework Room at the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society at the time of the opening of the Bill & Dot Muzzatti Child & Family Centre.
The Homework Room is the ground zero of the Homework Program. The program primarily supported by volunteer tutors, provides mentorship and learning assistance to nearly 50 children receiving services from the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society. Through educational games, creative activities and access to individual IPads, the weekly visits reinforce academic expectations and instill self confidence in the children who attend.
This most recent gift will sustain the program for the next five years, allowing for upgrades to learning modules and equipment as well as providing funds for celebratory and recreational activities that mirror the activities of the program.
Shauna Hatch, Vice President, Human Resources, The Plasman Group comments, “The Plasman Group is proud to once again be partnered with the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation to sponsor the Plasman Homework & Tutoring Program. The program, its tutors, and the children are a key to a lifelong engagement in learning. Plasman has a long history of supporting the communities in which we live and work. We believe that by supporting youth directly, it benefits everyone. Much gratitude for all that the Children’s Aid Foundation and the Children’s Aid Society contribute to the community and particularly their involvement with this project”.
Derrick Drouillard, WECAS, Executive Director, summed up the importance of education by paraphrasing a quote that said, “Education is the the soul of a society as it passes from one generation to another.”
