About Us

Our Mission Statement

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation is dedicated to providing financial support that contributes to the safety and well-being of the children and families of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society through fundraising initiatives and public education.

Who We Are

The Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation believes that every child deserves an equal opportunity for reaching their potential.

Success starts with basic needs that provide the essence for growth. Associated with the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society, but incorporated as a separate body with its own Board of Directors, the foundation funds programs for children and families with this purpose in mind.

The programs offered provide opportunities for children, youth and families to become empowered through the development of skill sets, self-esteem and self-confidence.Some programs were developed specifically to reflect our community needs and do not receive government funding, while other programs require subsidized funding.

The Board of Directors takes great pride in providing the financial support and resources that directly benefit our children and youth. Your support becomes the strength of a community that works together “Growing a Strong Future.”

Message From The President

A warm welcome to the web-site of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Foundation (WECAF), WECAF.ON.CA.  We hope that you will find this to be an informative and user friendly vehicle in terms of navigating the profile, programs, activities and events of the Foundation.  You will note that the mandate of WECAF is to nurture children, empower youth and strengthen families that the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society (WECAS) provides services.  This is accomplished through efforts that are supported by individuals, organizations and businesses within our very generous community.

Our current campaign, “Children, Youth & Families, Strength for Today-Opportunities for Tomorrow” is based on WECAF’s strategic plan that was adopted after a thorough, consultative process with WECAS staff, youth and families.  The focus is on providing tools and resources that enable families to strengthen and enrich relationships, as well as supporting youth, particularly those who age out of care and face independent living with financial and social challenges.  WECAS receives little government or alternative funding for these types of programs.  That’s where WECAF comes in, and that is where we need your help.  Have a look at our Case for Support booklet.  There are a number of options to choose from.  We would love to discuss them further with you.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, thank you for considering making a difference in the lives of children, youth and families!

Family

All families should have the opportunity to be successful and benefit from a strong support network. Our goal is to embrace families in times of need, reducing stress and isolation to empower effective parenting, These dynamics create opportunities for new beginnings for the whole family.

Education

Education is the key to unlocking potential and contributing to personal growth and development of our youth. Through our programs and bursaries we are providing an opportunity for a positive educational experience. This experience supports employment, health and social wellbeing. When we support children in care we empower them to grow to their full potential as active members in the community.

Enrichment

We are dedicated to providing children in care the support, tools, experiences and encouragement for an enriched life. Growing a strong future means building resiliency, self-confidence and social skills that support a smooth transition to new beginnings. Recreational and group activities present opportunities to build relationships, give back to the community and interact with positive role models.
