The Fortis Group with the support of Mr. H.Q. have met their goal of ensuring that 300 Kinship children, and youth living independently who receive services from the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society will not be cold this winter. The Windsor construction company was spurred on by the overwhelming effects of COVID-19 and the struggles that families and youth are facing in terms of unemployment, poverty, addictions and mental health. The most vulnerable among us are children. No Cold Child seeks to combat this by providing outerwear, personal care and food items for each of the 300 young people.
Donations to date for this program have exceeded $22,000 of which the Fortis Group is matching dollar for dollar, hence $45,000 is pledged to this program, with Fortis agreeing to match any additional contributions. According to Max De Angelis, President of the Fortis Group, “Both myself and my partner Tyler Beckett have always focused our charitable efforts around children’s charities and the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society holds a special place in our hearts. All things considered, we have been blessed as well with an outstanding group of trade partners and suppliers who have done their part in making this possible.” Derrick Drouillard, Executive Director of the Windsor-Essex Children’s Aid Society is overwhelmed by this great support. “This is a marvelous example of our community coming together to meet the essential needs of children, youth and families. By eliminating some of these financial roadblocks, significant stress can be transformed to attainable hope.”
